Byrna Less-Lethal Training — In Person

Train with purpose. Build confidence. Handle responsibly.

Guardian Training Academy offers in-person Byrna less-lethal training for civilians, eligible private security officers, law enforcement personnel, and organizational teams.

Learn safe handling, responsible decision-making, and practical launcher operation with G. “Dwayne” Harris, Byrna instructor and authorized dealer. Classroom instruction and supervised practice may take place indoors or outdoors at approved training facilities.

Choose Your Training

Tuition covers training only. Launchers, projectiles, CO₂, and other supplies are sold separately unless expressly included in your class confirmation. Any additional facility or practice fees will be disclosed before booking.

Civilian Safety & Familiarization

For individuals and families who want to understand their Byrna launcher and develop responsible handling habits.

Instruction may include:

• Launcher safety rules and manufacturer warnings
• Controls, operation, and compatible ammunition
• Safe loading, unloading, and storage
• Basic maintenance and equipment inspection
• Situational awareness, avoidance, and de-escalation
• Responsible defensive decision-making
• Supervised handling and target practice at an approved facility
• Appropriate actions following a defensive incident

Course length: Confirmed before booking based on the selected civilian session.

Students completing this session receive a Guardian Training Academy certificate of completion. This is a civilian familiarization course; it does not confer instructor status or professional end-user certification.

Law Enforcement & Security End-User Training

Course length: Approximately four hours.

For eligible law enforcement, licensed private security, corrections, and military personnel, subject to applicable Byrna program requirements.

Instruction follows the applicable Byrna end-user curriculum and may include:

• Launcher operation, safety, and maintenance
• Approved ammunition and equipment considerations
• Less-lethal capabilities, limitations, and risks
• Decision-making, de-escalation, and professional responsibilities
• Supervised practical exercises and accuracy assessment
• Required written testing and completion documentation

Professional certification requires successful completion of the applicable attendance, testing, and practical requirements. Additional time may be necessary for assessment or remediation.

This is end-user training. It does not authorize graduates to teach or certify others.

Training for Organizations

Contact Guardian to arrange training for:

• Churches and houses of worship
• Healthcare facilities and providers
• Schools and educational organizations
• Businesses and workplace teams
• Private security companies
• Law enforcement and other eligible professional agencies

We coordinate the appropriate civilian or professional training track based on participants’ roles, eligibility, and organizational policies. Participation does not independently authorize possession or use on school grounds, at work, or in other restricted locations.

Guardian Officer Discount

Eligible current Guardian officers receive the $89.99 tuition rate—a $10 savings from standard tuition.

Contact the Academy to verify eligibility before purchasing. This rate applies to the participating Guardian officer’s training; equipment and separately disclosed fees remain additional.

Purchase Your Byrna Launcher

Guardian is an authorized Byrna dealer. Students should purchase a compatible launcher and arrange required supplies before their class.

Contact the Academy before purchasing equipment to confirm:

• The launcher model appropriate for your selected course
• Required compatible projectiles and CO₂
• Protective equipment and other class supplies
• Whether your existing launcher may be used

A launcher purchase does not include tuition unless the product listing expressly states otherwise. Do not bring loaded equipment into the classroom. Follow the instructor’s arrival and equipment-handling instructions.

Locations & Scheduling

Training is available by appointment in Waco, Dallas, and Frisco, subject to instructor and facility availability.

Classroom portions may be held at approved 25N Coworking locations or other suitable facilities. Launcher discharge and practical exercises take place only where expressly permitted, with appropriate safety arrangements.

• Regular group classes: Minimum 10 fully paid students, unless the Academy approves an exception.
• Instructor travel: Available by advance arrangement for groups of 15 or more fully paid students.
• Private instruction: Available by request; contact the Academy for pricing and availability.

Group classes remain subject to minimum enrollment and scheduling. Purchasing training does not confirm a class date until the Academy provides written scheduling confirmation. Travel and additional facility charges, if applicable, will be disclosed before booking.

Before You Register

Less-lethal does not mean harmless. Improper use can cause serious injury or death. Students must follow manufacturer warnings, instructor directions, and all applicable laws.

Security officers and law enforcement personnel must obtain any required employer or agency approval before carrying or using a launcher on duty. Students outside Texas must follow their own state’s requirements and their employer’s or agency’s policies.

Course completion does not grant a security license, expand legal authority, or guarantee employer acceptance. State continuing education or law enforcement training credit applies only when expressly identified and confirmed for the particular class.
